Kids Love Stampin' Up!

My granddaugher, Hannah Jane,  was visiting me this past week and kept walking over to my stamp sets and looking at them with the same longing I have when looking at the new catalogs, so I thought it might be time to see if we have another stamper in the family. 

She is only 4 (will be 5 this month) and I wasn't sure if she was too little or not but thought I would give it a try.  Guess what? She is a natural!!!  She had so much fun and couldn't get enough!  I think she would have stamped all day if I had let her!  What a great babysitting tool and so much better than TV!!! 

After awhile I decided to step it up a notch so I pulled out my punches!  She especially loved the new Extra Large Two-Step Bird that is available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  We used the negative paper to make a stencil and she traced some birds and then colored them in for some added fun. 

After that there was only one thing left.  Yes, I pulled out my Big Shot!  She was thrilled and a fellow Stampin' Up! buddy was born!

I am already thinking ahead to Stampin' Up! birthday parties and sleepovers!

Hurray!  Finally I have enough energy to stamp!  I wanted to make something fun, but also something easy so I pulled out my large wheels and made this card using the Neighborhood wheel. I colored it with my Stampin' Pastels and added grass made from Glorious Green cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set (I just love this set!) and was punched with the Word Window Punch. I added some Bashful Blue ribbon to help it pop a bit.  A little Dazzling Diamonds for the windows and clouds and I was all done.  I want to make some matching wrapping paper so I will be all set the next time a friend retires!

Lady Bugs for Spring

Hi Everyone!

Isn't this card perfect for Spring? It is another swap I received and was sent by Judene Hale.  I like how the darker colors can still make me feel bright and cheery!  Is there anyone that doesn't like Lady Bugs?

Larry and I went to the Airforce base to get our ID cards renewed and take care of other business.  I had hoped we could stop by the IKEA store as I have never been and have heard such fabulous things, but unfortunately, since I have been so sick, we have decided not to push it.

I had to go to the doctor again yesterday morning because my chest congestion just doesn't want to clear up.  They said to keep taking the antibiotics and keep drinking clear fluids. Hopefully I will be back to normal soon. Everyone is worried about me, not because of the fever or other symptoms, but because I haven't had the energy to do any stamping!

Vintage Vogue

Hi Stampers!

I am still battling Bronchitis so I thought I would share a card I received from Leslie May via a recent swap I participated in.  I really like how she separated the words in the sentiment.  Very cool!

She used the Folk Flowers Decor Stencil, Vintage Vogue Stamp set, Very Vanilla cardstock, Melon Mambo and Soft Suede Classic Ink, and Linen Thread.

I have never used the stencils before, but love the delicate look they give to the background.

The flu hits the Starr House :(

Hi Stampers.  Sorry for not posting for the last couple of days.  We have been down with the flu and I got a double whammy with bronchitis in both lungs.  I'm starting to feel a bit better and will try to post something tomorrow.

Well Scripted Wedding Card

Today's card is one that I will be using for a wedding/anniversary swap that I signed up for.  The original design is by Lynn Pratt.  Her idea was for someone buying a new house but I thought it would also be cute for a wedding.

Supplies used:

Stamps: Well Scripted, Picture This, Tiny Tags, Voila to Go

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Simmery White, Basic Grey, Chocolate Chip, Brushed Gold

Markers: Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo, Creamy Carmel, Blush Blossom

Ink: Basic Grey, Brocade Blue

Acessories: Champagne Mist, Brad, Scallop Edge Punch

Too Pooped to Post!

Hi Everyone!  Holly and I went to a late showing of Shutter Island on Wednesday evening and then I babysat my Grandchildren yesterday evening and was too tired to post anything last evening.  I will post something later this evening if you would like to check back!

Asian Art with Stampin' Up!

Holly and I were talking about her trip to Japan today and it inspired me to make a card using the Dream Gardens stamp sets.

  
 
This was the first time I've used the Build a Brad set and it was really cool!  I stamped an image from Dream Gardens, embossed it, and punched out a circle with the 1/2" circle punch.  It fit perfectly!  I also used the photo corners punch and some stampin dimensionals to make it pop. The background was stamped with the En Francais background stamp in Pale Plum ink on Whisper White Cardstock.  The Japanese girl is tamped with Perfect Plum. I first sponged the edges with Perfect Plum but it didn't look quite right so Holly suggested I spongethem again with basic black.  The words are from the Dream Gardens and Eastern Influences set.  This has reminded us that we need to get busy scrapbooking the pictures from her trip!  I can't believe it has been almost three months since she was there!

YouTube Tuesday with Sock Monkey!
